Special Chicago Business and
Career Networking Event

"How to Cope and Succeed in Today's Economy"
Featuring Guest Speaker Jerry Mitchell
Founder - Midwest Entrepreneurs Forum

Park Place Restaurant and Bar

6733 N. Olmsted (at Oshkosh Across from Metra Station 1 Block South of Northwest Hwy.) in Chicago's Edison Park Neighborhood

Whether you have a job, own your own business, are looking for a full-time job or are seeking to supplement your income, this Business and Career Networking Event at the bright new Edison Park restaurant Park Place is for you. This special event features plenty of time for networking with other business professionals (from 6:30-7:30 and after the presentations), plus a light supper buffet and cocktail hour (cash bar). Remember, networking is one of the key tools you have to succeed in your career as well as socially.

However, the highlight of the evening is a presentation by Jerry Mitchell, who has founded a dozen companies and is currently President of the Midwest Entrepreneurs Forum. Jerry will be speaking on "How to Cope and Succeed in Today's Economy."

Jerry will specifically be addressing the job insecurity that has settled over the nation over the past few years. This situation has made the idea of self-employment more appealing. People realize that rather than getting a job, you may actually have to make a job. Entrepreneurship becomes more popular in a weak economy when laid-off workers can't find jobs at existing companies. But it is also attractive in better times - people know they can fail at a new business and still recover.

There's nothing like this seminar to assist you in getting from where you are now to where you wish to be tomorrow. You'll be given plenty of fresh insights and effective ideas to take home with you. These insights are based on real-life situations and years of successful experience – keys to assist you in avoiding many mistakes that can lead to failure and frustration. In addition, Jerry will address the growing attitude malaise that often accompanies a down economy. It can produce changes in the American psyche as well as peoples' willingness to embrace new challenges and remain upbeat and hopeful.

An additional topic for that evening will be the "Changing Face of Job Hunting and Achieving Financial Stability." Jim Senhauser will give a brief talk on new techniques for coping financially, and for standing out in the job hunting process when you are up against tens or even hundreds of other applicants.

Between Jerry's and Jim's talks, you will be provided with one whole lot of information. So, bring your notepad, plenty of business cards and an appetite to network, socialize and learn.

This event is open to all business people regardless of whether they are single or not. Park Place is located in Chicago's Edison Park (which is the northwestern most corner of Chicago – about 2 blocks east of Park Ridge). Its appeal is no mystery – two reasons – excellent food and a pleasing atmosphere. The owners of the lively restaurant have generously allowed us to have the entire upstairs banquet facilities for this special event.

Here's the amazing part – your complete evening is $12, including dinner, the sharing of knowledge and networking, taxes and tips for members, non-members and guests with advance registrations. Walk-ups will also be accepted at the door for $15 cash. This party is open to all interested parties whether single or not. Business casual attire. Park with the complimentary valet, in the Moretti's lot (next door) or on the street.

Join Gourmet Connections, New Single Friends and Other Groups for a Mickey O'Roma's "St. Paddy's Weekend" Dinner Dance Party at

Moretti's Ristorante and Pizzeria

1799 S. Busse Road (just South of Algonquin) in Mount Prospect

My Irish-Italian pal, Mickey O'Roma recommended this party – So, top of the mornin' to ye, capiche?

Put on your green attire and head to the popular Moretti's Ristorante and Pizzeria in Mount Prospect for this St. Paddy's weekend giant gathering. Lots of singles groups will join in this this wild and crazy dance party celebration of Irish fun.

Yes, green will be the color of the day! Wear your wildest and most awesome green stuff and hats! We'll be handing out green beads, derbies, green light sticks and bracelets and glitter shamrock stickers for the ladies! It'll be one festive party with table decor, flashing green and white balloons and streamers everywhere. Sort of like a New Year's Eve, but with shamrocks instead of noisemakers. So, get ready to party!

For any guys wearing kilts – no charge at the door – though Mickey may look at you kind of funny.

There will be a delicious supper buffet to feast upon (starting at 8:45), including both hot foods and salad, so save up your appetite.

If you are a dancer, there will be plenty of that. Fabulous high energy DJ Marty will be back with tunes to keep you and the party moving! There are also two pool tables in the back and a couple of bean bag toss boards for those that like to play, dance and party at the same time. Oh yeah, there will be the "Wackiest Green Competition." The man and woman who come with the wildest, most outlandish wearin' O green will capture a prize!

We're combining with several other singles groups to host this event, so a huge crowd of several hundred is expected. Your cost for all this? You pay $15 cash at the door with our group's advance reservations coupon or $18 cash as an unregistered walk-in (but take a minute to register – you don't come, you don't pay). To allow for proper advance planning, be sure to RSVP up in advance below or E-mail me at jims@gourmetconnections.com or call me at 773-929-6534 and I will send you a coupon. After all, you wouldn't wanna disappoint my Irish-Italian buddy, Mickey, would ye?

Midwest Wine Expo

With the promise of spring in the air, Gourmet Connections and New Single Friends host a group outing to Binny's Beverage Depot's colossal tasting of quality upscale wines. For single wine aficionados, this festival is one of the biggest events of the year. You can select tastings from scores of varietals from the world's foremost wine growing regions.
